Dutchess County Remove Intoxicated Drivers (RID) held its inaugural Victims Candlelight Vigil with a special “Safety Tree” dedication on Thursday, November 16th to honor the memories of Dutchess County victims of intoxicated driving crashes.  Friends and family gathered at the Dutchess County Department of Public Works’ Highway Management Division Building in Poughkeepsie as the names of the 46 victims of DWI crashes in Dutchess County since 1981 were read and a “Safety Tree” was dedicated in their memory.

We posthumously recognize Doris Aiken for over 35 years of dedication to preventing impaired driving.   Founder of Remove Intoxicated Drivers, a true pioneer, advocate and “pit bull” champion for victims and families affected by impaired drivers; she will forever be remembered because she truly made a difference!

Elections were held and congratulations are in order for the new NYS STOP-DWI Association Board Members who will be taking office on January 1, 2018.  The Board will be led by Suzanne Cirencione (Ontario) as Chairperson and Rob Richards (Niagara) as Vice-Chairperson.

Christina M. Hale (Orange County) was recognized as the outgoing STOP-DWI Association Chairperson, a post she has held since 2013.  She was honored for 25 years of service with STOP-DWI and her dedication to the Association.
