Protecting New Yorkers from Drugged Driving (S8913/A9554) May 13, 2022 Presentation

On Friday, May 13, 2022 at 12pm, NYS STOP-DWI hosted an information virtual presentation on NY State Assembly Bill A9554 and Senate Bill S8913. Both bills involve the procedures relating to driving while ability impaired by drugs.

The NY State Senate Bill was sponsored by John W. Mannion, (D) 50th Senate District and co-sponsored by Joseph P. Addabbo Jr. and former Senator Todd Kaminsky.

The NY State Assembly Bill was sponsored by Assemblyman William B. Magnarelli of Assembly District 129 and co-sponsored by Pheffer, Amato, Stern, Brown, Griffin, Woerner, Wallace, Buttenschon, Englebright, Silliti, and Thiele.

Virtual presenters included Maureen McCormick, Esq., Special Assistant District Attorney of the Suffolk County DA’s Office Co-Chair DAASNY Vehicular Crimes Subcommittee, and Kristen Burke, MBA of NHTSA Region 9 Toxicology Liaison.
